Drywall Texture Matching in Houston
Texture matching is the part that decides whether a repair disappears or stares back at you in the afternoon light. A perfectly flat patch in a textured wall still shows, because the texture around it throws shadows the smooth patch does not. We match knockdown, orange peel, and hand textures across Greater Houston so a repair blends into the wall instead of announcing itself.
It is the hardest skill in drywall to fake, which is the whole reason it is worth having someone who does it every day.

Why texture is the hard part
Any patch can be made flat. Getting it to wear the same texture as its neighbors is the trick, and a near-miss is more obvious than the original damage was. Knockdown in particular comes down to timing, spraying the spatter on and then flattening it at the right moment, which is a feel that comes from doing it on a lot of walls.
Matching a repair or retexturing a room
Most jobs are blending new texture into an existing wall so a repair vanishes. Sometimes the better answer is to retexture a whole wall or room for a consistent look, especially if it has been patched a few times over the years. If you want the full breakdown of how each texture is matched, the guide on matching drywall texture covers it step by step.

Frequently asked questions
Can you match my existing wall texture?
Yes. We identify the texture, usually orange peel or knockdown in Houston homes, then recreate it on the repair and feather it into the surrounding wall so there is no hard line. The patch is then primed and painted to disappear completely.
What is the difference between knockdown and orange peel?
Orange peel is a fine, even spatter, like the skin of an orange, with no flat spots. Knockdown is a heavier spatter that has been flattened into wider, irregular islands. Knockdown is the trickier of the two to match because of the timing involved in flattening it.
Can you match a popcorn ceiling?
Patches can be matched with a popcorn product, but older popcorn ceilings, roughly pre-1980s, may contain asbestos and should be tested before anyone scrapes or sands them. We work around that safely rather than disturbing material that should be left alone or handled by a specialist.
